As this radio is a so-called 'multi' radio. The user may select the country in which the radio is used. With the respective setting, the radio complies to the country's radio regulations. See manual for details.

Frequency expansion is performed by selecting either the 'RU' or the 'PX' setting. The difference is that the frequencies of the 'RU' setting always end with a 5 kHz offset.

For example: 29.105 MHz, 29.115 and so on. In opposite to this the 'PX' frequencies always have the '0' in the kHz digit, example: 29.100 MHz, 29.110 MHz and so on. Remember that the CB frequencies do not have linear 10 kHz spacing. Some channels have 20 kHz and some other frequencies are not selectable at all.

This confusing system even continues on the 10m ham band. By default, in the 'RU' and 'PX' settings RX and TX are disabled.

To enable RX and TX in these settings, open the radio and locate the four jumper near the CPU labeled with 'S1' to 'S4'. The radio on which the modification was tested was owned in germany and had originally all jumpers open. For the 'RU' setting, close S1 and S3, and leave the remaining jumpers open.

RX and TX are possible from 25.615 to 30.105 Mhz, AM and FM. For the 'PX' setting, close S1 and S2, and leave the remaining jumpers open.

RX and TX are possible from 25.610 to 30.100 Mhz, AM and FM.

No further reset procedure required.

The original european settings are still available and selectable as described in the manual. Once you have performed this modification you can swap the radio from a CB transceiver into a 10m HAM transceiver and back without opening again. Please check the RX sensitivity and the TX power for the frequencies you intend to use.

The performance may be degraded on the 10m ham band what can be corrected by a realignment of the radio. If you talk to ham stations in FM, remember that the deviation of your partner's radio should be reduced. CB radios are using IF filters with a -6dB bandwith of 6 kHz while ham radios often have 5 kHz deviation which results in a distorted or interrupted audio.

Note: The output power is 4 watts and cannot be increased by simply setting a jumper.
